Who We Are:

We're NOT "just another church building"...

Inside we are pulsating with warm welcome and God's new life!

What are you looking for?

More love?
More peace?
More joy?
More hope?
More purpose?
More forgiveness?
More wisdom?
More opportunity to make a difference in our world?
That's what God offers -- along with closer relationships through Jesus and his Spirit. Life is more fulfilling with God's help and prayerful support from people who care. Challenges become adventure!

Our Mission

To live the new life God gives us through Jesus Christ; we seek to embody and celebrate God's Love by:

being a community that lives Christ's welcome
shows compassion
promotes healing and wholeness of life
-- a joyous family where all are welcome to join together to grow in faith and love.
Our joy sends us out to share God's love through the power of God's Spirit, energized by the life we have received through Christ.

Purpose

The avowed purpose of this church will be to worship God, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to celebrate the sacraments; to realize Christian fellowship and unity within this church and the Church Universal; to render loving service towards humankind; and to strive for righteousness, justice, and peace.

Covenant

“We are banded together as a Christian Church to maintain the worship of God, to proclaim the gospel of Christ, to develop in men, women, and young people a  consciousness of their relations and duties to God and humankind, and to inspire them with love for truth, passion for justice, and enthusiasm for service. To this end we pledge our loyalty to Christ and covenant with each other to strive to express His Spirit in our individual and corporate life; to live together as Christian sisters and brothers and to submit ourselves to ministry as Christ Church--working, giving, praying for its increase, its purity, its peace, and seeking in every way to make it a power for the building up of the Kingdom of God here on earth.”

A UCC Church

UCC Affiliation

We belong to the United Church of Christ (UCC), a major protestant denomination with 1.5 million members nationwide. The UCC is a non-creedal church -- members are simply asked to confess Jesus Christ as their Savior and commit themselves to a life in Christ.

As a UCC church we believe in:
- God's continuing work
- an extravagant welcome
- and advocating justice for all.
Our perspective is global and we work with, not against, people of other faiths.
We must never place a period where God has placed a comma.

Why? Because God is still speaking,

Pastor Lorolie

Meet the Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Lorolie Andrews served as pastor in the United Church of Christ (NW Indiana and Cincinnati, OH) for 13 years. Believing in the importance of personal relationship, she invites her congregation to call her Pastor Lorolie (Loro lee). With experience as high school teacher and college professor, she delights in bringing the Bible alive in our everyday Christian lives. Upon receiving her Doctorate of Ministry in Spirituality and Spiritual Formation from Chicago Theological Seminary in 2003, she has done spiritual direction--one-on-one and in groups--leading retreats and speaking at seminars and conferences. She urges the congregation to ground themselves in daily spiritual practices--prayer, Bible reading, worship, gratitude--so that our service to God flows out of our spiritual centers, rooted in God's love and empowered by God's Spirit. She lives in Sterling Heights with her husband, the Rev. Doyll Andrews, who pastors a UCC church in Armada, Michigan, she drives the 50 miles down each Sunday to Gibraltar. She rejoices in this congregation's dedication, love for one another, and commitment to participation in the wider community.
